Using the Calorie Tracker
AI-Powered Food Analysis
The Calorie Tracker is xHeal smart camera feature that analyzes photos of your food to estimate calories and macronutrients instantly.
How It Works
You take a photo, AI identifies individual food items, portion sizes are estimated using visual cues, nutritional data is calculated, and you review, adjust, and confirm.
Taking the Best Photos
For Lighting, natural daylight is ideal with even lighting without shadows. For Angle, top-down (bird's eye view) gives most accurate portion estimates. For Framing, include the entire plate with a small margin. For Background, a contrasting plate helps AI identify food boundaries.
Reviewing Results
After analysis, you will see list of identified foods, estimated portion for each, calories and macros per item, and total meal nutrition.
Making Adjustments
For wrong food, tap the item, tap Change Food, search for correct food, and select. For wrong portion, tap the item and adjust the serving size slider. For missing food, tap Add Item and search. For extra item, tap the item and tap Remove.
Accuracy Expectations
Food identification is approximately 85-90% accurate for common foods. Calorie estimation has approximately 15-25% margin of error. Accuracy improves with simple, separated foods, good lighting, and standard presentations.
What It Handles Well
Fruits and vegetables, grilled meats and fish, rice, pasta, bread, salads, and common restaurant dishes.
What Is More Challenging
Mixed casseroles and stews, foods with hidden ingredients, unusual or regional dishes, and very small portions.
Tip: For mixed dishes like stir-fry, consider logging the main ingredients separately using manual search for better accuracy.
